// KITE //

2016 // Bent steel rod frame, Tasmanian Oak seat, recycled HDPE handle and foot.

The kite seat is inspired by a childish drawing of a kite and a desire to create a dynamic form that reveals itself with a change with perspective. The triangulation of the steel frame provides great strength, this chair has been successfully tested for loads of up to 150kg. The HDPE handle provides a place to hang a bag or coat.

The handle and foot are made from recycled HDPR plastic sourced from milk bottles collected at local cafes. The plastic was shredded, heated and hand-rolled to achieve a marble-like finish. It was then machine-finished to achieve a high-end surface. This new material is waterproof, UV stable and environmentally-friendly.

The seat can be produced in timber or in recycled HDPE (for an outdoor environment) The soft curve of the seat’s bullnose edge is provides a great level of comfort and highlights timber grain or the marble texture in recycled.

The kite seat is suitable for residential or hospitality projects, as part of a setting on as a simple statement piece.

Handmade in Australia.
